STEWARDS OF THE ICEBOX
ART WITHOUT GRIEF
a short comic by Will Strode

ABOUT THE COMIC

I wrote this comic in June 2009 after reading Knud Rasmusson's Eskimo Folk Tales. The traditional Alaskan Native stories have a very ancient and violent view of morality, but the basic message is still the same as it is today.

This story was based on Artuk - The Man Who Did Forbidden Things, about a man who loses his wife but continues to live life as normal. It's a story about how grief can tear you apart if left unchecked. In Artuk's case, it comes in a very literal way.

The Stewards of the Icebox series will continue one day as a series of spooky short stories.
